ERT Day 4

European Road Trip Day 4

Monday 4 July 2022

Today we woke up in the middle of the night from a thunderstorm. So we didn't sleep very well this night either.

In the morning we went up and drove to Salzburg where we spent most of the day geocaching. First we went up a hill called Mönchsberg. Here we found that you could actually do some (top rope) climbing! Too bad we didn't have either gear with us, nor any quick draws. But still cool!

She had to look for the geocache too.

After a while Kim realised though that the next few geocaches she had been looking at was down the mountain. In the city center. Which was straight down. So while we tried to find our way down we found an elevator in Museum der Moderna and we thought that yes! Finally a way down (because we couldn't find anything else nearby).

So we went down... Only to find out that there was a gate and fence around the elevator.

We couldn't go back up again because those elevators that went up was on the other side, and we had to pay to go out the gate. Well, thanks so much for not warning us before we stepped into the elevator!

That was probably the best spent €5.6 ever 🙄

After this we were walking around and geocaching in the city center instead, and we even met some other geocachers!

In the evening, when we started to feel done after a hella lot of walking, we went to have some pizza at a restaurant. So nice after today.

On our way back to the car, we found a really hard but interesting geocache on a bridge full of locks... And one of those locks was a geocache in disguise!

With some help from hints and pictures we finally found the right lock after some 40 minutes. We even met several other groups of cachers while looking too. Some that gave up, others that stayed, and when we found the lock we shared the victory with them 🥰

After trying to find another geocache that failed, we decided to leave Salzburg and go to withdraw money and buy breakfast somewhere. So we finally found a store that was open but stupidly enough we went inside to buy bread, started stashing a lot of other stuff in our arms, and then they were suddenly closing and we had to hurry out. And guess what we had not bought? Bread for breakfast tomorrow...

We continued south to a place called Kuchl where we found a lake. Lukas went for a swim here while Kim hang around and waited. After this we found a parking close by that we stayed at. Kim put on her bikini and tried our "roof shower" (basically just a water tank on the roof with a hose connected to it and a shower head on the end). Worked quite well!

To top it all of today we ended the day with trying some pralines that we got as a "wedding gift" from Kim's parents. Super nice!
