NPL Day 15: Saturday 1 July 2023

Roavotjohka-Kautokeino

Lukas had an early alarm to wake up so he could inflate two heart shaped balloons as a surprise for Kim at their wedding day. Because today was one year anniversary since we got married!

Today we walked along the sandy roads listening to podcasts. It wasn't as warm as previous days which was nice. There also weren't so many insects.

It didn't happen very much along the trail today, except that we saw several loose dogs, some without any owner nearby which felt strange. We also saw a quick glimpse of a fox running across the road!

When we finally reached Kautokeino we passed by Extra, to see what they had. We bought some strawberries (since we wanted strawberries for midsummer but couldn't find any) on discount and decided to buy the rest at the next store.

Then we continued until we reached Maras pub where we had some lunch around 2 PM. There we met a local man whom we talked about our hike and some other stuff. He recommended us to go to Duottar Camping, which we also did later.

But first we went to Rema 1000, another supermarket, to buy food and snacks for the upcoming 8 days, and also breakfast for tomorrow and food and snacks for this evening.

After that Kim ran over to Kautokeino's church to find a geocache before we continued to the Camping (there are two, we went to Duottar Camping). There we checked into a nice and fresh hut, washed our clothes, ate food, took a shower... and did all the rest day stuff.

Lukas also spent some time in the grillkåta (not sure about the English word for this?), drinking some coffee and spending time with the owner and some of the guests. Talking and sitting in front of the fire.
