Lukas & Kim

Sunny weather and more rollercoaster emotions 🎢 ☀️

February started off a bit rocky. I went back home to visit which was really nice, but I was actually home because I had a doctor's appointment in Uppsala. Or, actually I had two, but while there, waiting for my second appointment, I found out that it had been cancelled!? So of course I was both angry and worried about this for a while ahead.

It helped though, that Lukas and my parents would soon come and visit me again, and I really looked forward to it.

Before that, I met a really cool person - Lorenzo.

I helped him with a package that he needed, and then when he left Abisko I got to ski part of the day with him and the photographer Thomas.

I also finally got to go to the Jiepren hut with my colleagues/friends! There was almost another storm cancelling it again, but we managed to wait out the weather and still go, which I'm so glad for. We had such a cozy evening there together.

Then came some stressful days, before Lukas and my parents arrived. It was so nice though, when they did. We went for a really interesting skiing trip to Kratersjön (going down through the forest was the interesting part, but we made it down), we went for a nice walk up to Stornabben and I got to try out pulling a tyre for the first time. We also went for a geocaching trip to Narvik, and on their last day here we went skiing in Björkliden.

Unfortunately on the last ride, the binding on my snowboard broke, and after they drove aaaall the way home in just 16 hours, Lukas noticed that my skis, which had been hidden under the other skis, had come with them home...

This of course brought some new stress into my life that I had to figure out. So now I was missing my skis, and don't even get me started on my ski boots. All of January had been a mess trying to glue and tape together the boots that kept falling apart, just to get to ski. I tried to reach out to the company that I had rented them from, so many times, but couldn't. So when I thought I would save money by renting skis instead of buying my own this winter, oh man, if I had only known how chaotic it all would be!

On top of this, by the end of the month, I also had some issues with a package that I couldn't pick up, which was then sent back to the sender... I wanted to try out winter camping and had bought snow stakes. Unfortunately, it looks like they are on their way back to Denmark now, and I have to try to order them again. So that's also fun 🫠

One of the first things that happened this month was that I finally got to go home and visit Lukas again! ❤️

The second day home I went geocaching in Västerås with my parents, and also went to visit my sister who has now moved from home!

So focused.

Back home again I woke up with moose just outside my window several mornings in a row.

I also met up with the adventurer Lorenzo Barrone, and skied with him.

The day before going to Jieprenstugan, my boots broke for… the third time? Great timing.

Some glue, some tape, and then I set off.

Such amazing views!

Over at the other side of lake Torneträsk too.

In the evening we had pancakes, tried the sauna and played cards together. Really lovely!

Then finally Lukas and my parents came to visit.

Their second day here we went skiing to Kratersjön.

On the way down we passed by Rallarkyrkogården (“The navvy churchyard”).

The next day we walked up at Stornabben, and Kim pulled a tyre.

While there, we tried the Uview. Together with a rope, backpack and trekking poles it can be used in several ways - to film yourself in 3rd person view, to use as a selfie stick or to use it as a tripod. Here we used it together with our camera as a tripod. Instead of using a backpack as a counterweight, we used the table to set it up.

The result!

Their fourth day we went to Narvik, and stopped along the road to snap some photos!

Their last day we went skiing in Björkliden, and Kim’s binding broke…

And of course she did another night out in the snow.

The last day of the month I went to Riksgränsen to buy some food, explore and geocache some.
