TS Day 91

TS Day 91

Lillsjön shelter - Sixtorp

Friday 8 October 2021

Today I woke up with weekend vibes! But that still didn't make me any faster in the morning. I had slept quite okay, despite the sound from the windmills close by being tiring.

Today, Ulla and Per-Allan, the cabin hosts in Skedbro in Rogen National Park that Lukas and I met back in September when we passed there, wanted to meet up with me, hike a bit with me and then offered to drive me to Örebro.

The first part of the trail today was around the lake. Unfortunately it was really wet here, and no way around, and since I would walk so short today I hadn't put on my Rocky Gore-tex socks. But I tried to tell myself it was okay to become wet now, since I wasn't going to walk much anyway!

Right away when the opportunity came to pick the road instead, I did so. I had started half an hour later than I'd told Ulla and Per-Allan I would, which now made me a bit stressed out because I didn't know if I would be fast enough to make it back on Bergslagsleden in time. So I texted them that I took the road, so we wouldn't miss each other.

While on the road, I think I saw 6-7 people, stationed every 150-250 m or so. Obviously hunters, but it felt a little odd to walk past so many people! I also passed a whole bunch of them hanging around by their cars, just before I steered off the road and past the windmills.

Soon enough I met Ulla and Per-Allan, and we started to hike back. It was nice having company, and to chat! I was in no hurry, which was nice, and after a few km, they wanted to stop for a little breakfast/lunch break. I hadn't had breakfast today because I couldn't even think about my oatmeal breakfast this morning, so when they offered me sandwiches, it was hard to say no!

We talked the entire way back to the car, and also during the ride to Örebro. They even invited me over to have lunch/dinner at their place, which was so kind of them! I also got to take a shower, and when the time came for me to take the train to Arboga where my dear friend Micke, who hiked with us the very first stretch of this hike (Treriksröset-Abisko), would pick me up, they drove me to the train station as well. If that isn't trail magic, I don't know what is! 😍

Seeing Micke again was a lot of fun! When we reached his place, Lukas was already there, apparently he had arrived just minutes before us.

We spent the rest of the evening catching up a bit, preparing my washing, I took another shower, we had a reeeeaaally nice dinner that Micke had made, we also had Bullfest (Cinnamon roll feast), eating Micke's amazing cinnamon rolls 😍

Basically, had a great time until we all were super tired and wanted to go to bed.
