GB Day 27
GB Day 27:
Via Piteälven
Thursday 5 August 2021
Kim slept in this morning, and when she woke up, she was pretty annoyed that her period had decided it can show up whenever the heck it wants to.
Other than that it was a slow morning, and we had breakfast really late. After noon we set out again, with a good pace. The weather was good and our bodies felt strong. At the little mountain pass we took a pause to breathe, and used the time to use the phone coverage we had here.
After this, we walked down again until we got closer to Fálesjåhkå. Here Kim refilled the water bottles and Lukas bathed. We also found a huuuuge stone that we used as cover from the wind, so we could make our lunch.
We then continued down, down into the birch forest again. The rest of the day was a continuation of that. We just walked up and down in it for the rest of the day.
Here and there the landscape shifted drastically with meadows, bogs etc.
According to Kim, this could even be the best hiking day so far - perfect weather for walking and pausing, as well as us having lots of interesting conversations. It was also quite easy to walk most of the time, just tiny birch trees (more like bushes) in some places. We stopped by a tarn, a little bit earlier that we had first thought when planning the day. We then ate some freeze-dried food in the tent, protected from mosquitoes and especially gnats.
