NPL Day 14: Friday 30 June 2023

Woke up to cloudy weather. Yay!

What was less fun was that we were low on water. Lukas decided to fill the filter bottle with water despite the "eggs" in the nearby lake. Kim felt dizzy and a bit nauseous in the morning which made it tough, and we only had half an hour without sun before it came back again.

Finally, after more than 8 km, we reached the lake where we planned to have breakfast. Kim needed to run away to dig a hole... But felt a lot better after that.

Then we continued on the sandy dirt road. We met a Finnish biker who was going from Rovaniemi to Alta, and then there also passed some cars, ATVs and motor bikes during the day. Otherwise not much happened. Scorching sun, barely any wind and a lot of horseflies today. Listened to podcasts to pass the time and at the end of the day it started to feel really heavy.

When we started to look for a tent spot we found the tent. But no one came out so we never said hello.

After circling the area Kim finally found a spot on a hill among all the trees. Then she lay down immediately inside once the tent was up, she was exhausted. Lukas was nice enough to prepare dinner.

Then we crawled inside to sleep - sweaty, sandy and just generally dirty. But tomorrow we will reach Kautokeino and then everything will be clean again!
