NPL Day 23

Day 23: Sunday 9 July 2023

Saarijärvi-Kilpisjärvi

Lukas woke up just before his alarm but realised he needed to sleep an hour longer so he changed it to 8 o'clock.

We dawdled, but started to walk after some time. We listened to podcasts today again and took a break some now and then for our last Snickers and Kvikk lunsj.

We rounded a hill and was in Norway for a little while again. Then we passed a lot of Finnish people with really heavy backpacks (Fjällräven Kajka seems to be very popular here).

We took a break and Kim fixed her hair (with a lot of frustration) for arriving in town later. Then we caught up to two hikers. Two Finns, one very talkative and we walked and talked the upcoming km. But then we passed some huts just before Kilpisjärvi and here they took another path down. We came out on a "trail road"! Very luxurious and a bit weird.

Came down to the restaurant Ravintola Kilpis where we hurried inside to eat. Gulped down a pizza and a kebab plate.

Stayed for a while to look at where to stay the night. Everything below 1000 SEK was pretty much fully booked, but we found ONE cabin at a camping with two beds for €56. A cabin shorter than Lukas is tall...

There we washed our clothes, visited the store (several times), showered and ate even more food.
