NPL Day 79

Day 79: Sunday 3 September 2023

Knausen-Olsberg

This morning we woke up by Patrik making a fire. It was hard getting out of bed - it was so cozy to just lay there. When we got up, we played Yahtzee and ate breakfast together, which was really nice.

Small raindrops fell when we started our hike. The raindrops faded and we ascended into the misty mountains. As all the other days together, we talked constantly. But today we were a bit sad that this was our last day together.

The first 4 km our trail was the same. But when we reached the crossroads where we were supposed to go separate ways we sat down for a snack. Lukas looked at the map and saw that if they wanted, they could walk 2 km longer with us and then follow a dirt road to Tynset instead of trying to figure out how to find their way over and down the mountain on their own. They thought this was a good idea and this way we would also have a little bit more time together.

As we descended over some wet trails that probably are used mostly for skiing in the winter, the sun came and made us warmer and happier. We reached the road and hugged each other and said goodbye. Several times. It felt difficult leaving, but we really had to now.

As we walked our separate ways we looked back one last time over our shoulders and saw them disappearing behind the curve in the road.

We already missed them.

We continued for a while, then decided to take a short cut on a path that led through the forest. The trail was good at first but the longer we walked the worse the trail got. Last km we had to almost "bushwack". Finally at the road again, we called Dagne. A friend to our friend Dag. We had two more hours on the road, and were hoping to get there before the rain that was hovering above us. After a few km, our way joined with a pilgrimage route, and it was nice to have some signs to follow. Last bit down a path in the forest was tricky though, but we made it through.

Then it was just a short hike on the road until we reached Dagne's house. We got a warm welcome, and got to use the shower and also got our own room with nice beds and all!

After showering, we sat down for a dinner together with Dagne, her mother and her son. We talked a lot - many different topics and ate amazing Indian food. After the dinner we also got ice cream which was very nice 😍

We talked long into the night, trying to push away the tiredness that tried to creep over us. We didn't want to go to bed yet, it was so nice to talk!

But finally we had to give in to the tiredness, and we went to bed 💤
