Skiing hut to hut for the first time - Day 2
In the afternoon on my second day I was a bit unsure of what to do. Go to Abiskojaure as my plan was, or stay another night? In the end I made my decision so late, that the only reasonable thing was to stay another night here. I spent the morning having a loong breakfast, stocking up the wood in the cabin, talking to the cabin hosts Ulla and Per and taking my EVA pad up on the slope and laid down in the sun and just relaxed.
Then, I was ready to go for a little day trip. So I left my backpack in the hut and set off further in the Gorsavággi - the valley. I had hoped to see the glacier Gorsajiekna so I kept going just a liiittle bit further, a liiittle bit further, until I was so far in the valley that it was about to go upwards. The sun was about to set too, so I decided to head back so I didn't have to ski in the dark. In the end I skied almost 10 km on that day, which felt nice. When I came back inside, I got quite a shock when I opened the door and heat hit me, as well as two dogs barking at me. I don't know why, but I hadn't expected to get company during these 2,5 hours that I was away. But it was nice with company, we talked a lot that evening, as well as the next morning. Her name was Victoria and she had skied here many times, and was "from the area", you could say.
