TA Day 105
TA Day 105: Wednesday 2 April 2025
Auckland, Mangere, Tidal Road - Takapuna (Takapuna Beach Holiday Park) via ferry from Auckland to Devonport
We were tired this morning, and the bed felt nice. So we were reluctant to leave and left a bit later than initially planned.
We started to walk towards the pharmacy in Newmarket. After a while we crossed over a big bridge, and then left the roads to walk through One Tree Hill / Cornwall Park. This area was so nice after having been in so much traffic noise for so long, that our ears felt half-deaf by now. The serenity soon ended though and we were back on the streets of Auckland again.
But we reached Newmarket, and there they had Kim's contraceptives. We sat down, and Kim felt like she could finally breathe out more properly. We were good to go. Or, after further inspection, yes, but only for another month...
After all of this, we went to a really nice pasta place, called Pastarita, to have lunch.
After the lunch break we continued towards the ferry, now in rain. When we finally made it there, the next ferry was soon leaving, and we just managed to board it with a few seconds to spare and Kim had to run the last bit to make it.
Unnecessarily stressful but at least we made it. When we kept going, there was less rain, but still some. We bought an ice cream on the way and headed towards New World in Takapuna. We couldn't find the entrance to the store, and almost did a full 360 around the building before we found it, a bit hidden but still close to where we started. We did our shopping but was still quite annoyed. By now, we just wanted to get to the holiday park.
Kim was not in a good mood, and while Lukas ate some salmon and beer that he had bought at the store, Kim went and had a shower. It was a lot better after that and not long after we went back to our tent to sleep.
Today's:
Distance: 26.47 km
Ascent: 370 m
Descent: 361 m
