TA Day 11
TA Day 11: Sunday 29 December 2024
Rest day, The Anau
Today was quite an uneventful day, which we very much appreciated after the kind of intense past ten days.
We slept in, had a nice breakfast with noodles Lukas made, eggs, sprouts and bacon sprinkles.
The best part was probably that we, by chance, in the kitchen by just talking to some people, managed to get a ride for tomorrow, back to where we left the trail yesterday. So nice! So now we didn't have to pay for an expensive shuttle, and they seemed so nice.
The rest of the day we did the regular rest day stuff, like washing clothes, eating, showering, updating on social media, catching up with blog post, and mainly - planning for the next part of the trail.
One thing we had issues with, was booking the camp site that we were supposed to stay at tomorrow. For some reason we got an error message through the website, but luckily the local DOC visitor's center could help us.
We also managed to find salve for athlete's foot, compeed, rubber tips, and stuff like that. So now we should be sorted for the next few days. The only thing that we still have no idea about, is how to cross big cities like Queenstown, Wanaka etc, when you can't camp and everything is fully booked… And having no mobile coverage after tomorrow. That part will be… interesting.
