TA Day 47
TA Day 47: Monday 3 February 2025
Rest day in St Arnaud
We literally spent the first half of the day in bed, tired and happy to sleep inside in a double bed. We also had internet which meant a lot of procrastinating... But then it was finally time to go up and just try to catch up with everything.
First we went to the general store to buy resupplies for the next section - the infamous Richmond Ranges. Unfortunately we went to resupply after one o'clock in the afternoon, and without having anything to eat beforehand! Not great, and we were not happy with each other...
We bought some bread and our first jar of hazelnut spread on the entire hike, and went back home again. Ate this, and all felt a bit better. We also had some grapes and cherry tomatoes.
Then we walked to Nelson Lakes Visitor's Center and bought some freeze-dried meals. On the way there we met Molly and Ted, a nice couple that we had met at the Blue Lake Hut three days ago and Kim had spent a long time talking to in the evening.
It was nice to stretch our legs a bit. At the Visitor's Center they had some other options than at the general store, and we bought a few Real Meals and Outdoor Gourmets.
Then we walked back home again, repacked all the food and Kim started to make pancakes. Meanwhile, we also called Kim's parents to talk about their upcoming visit, and after the pancake-making we continued to make phone calls. Both Kim and Lukas called some friends, and then it was already very late, and time to go to bed.
