TA Day 58
TA Day 58: Friday 14 February 2025
Cowshed Bay Campsite - Camp Bay Campsite
Another morning with curious possums and wekas running around our tents in the morning, and another morning with a slow morning and sleeping in. Maybe it will be hard to wean ourselves off this very nice and easy trail.
But - all was not good and well, as there was suddenly a purple corner on Kim's phone screen... But we didn't think so much about it at the time.
(Adding this picture in because we forgot to take a photo of yesterday's camp spot…)
The sun was really hot again, yet when we met people (who are only hiking the QCT) they seemed more affected by the heat than us. Maybe we have started to grow used to it? It's still crazy hot though and we're sweating like crazy.
We had more amazing views today with green vegetation and turquoise water. At the end of the day we reached Camp Bay, where there was a restaurant. What a perfect way to celebrate Valentine's Day on trail than by a restaurant!?
It was pricey (quite small portions) but good. We didn't hurry from there, and even had another meal "for dessert" 😂 When they closed, we left and walked the few hundred metres to the campsite. Here we pitched our tent, washed ourselves in the dark (trying to hide from people going in and out of the toilet and shining their headlamps towards us) and after that we went on a little walk in the dark to try to see bioluminescence and glow worms. No bioluminescence unfortunately, but we found some glow worms! At first we thought our eyes were just messing with us, but then we realised it WAS actually glow worms! 🌟
