TA Day 96
TA Day 96: Monday 24 March 2025
Ngaherenga Campsite - Mangaokewa North Road Campsite
When we woke up we spent some more time with Caleb and Rose, before we really, really had to leave and keep going. But we calculated that we would be in Te Kuiti in two days, and they would be done biking and also go to Te Kuiti in two days, so we would probably meet again there.
And so we left.
We walked for a short time on a gravel road, but we soon reached the highway (SH30) which we now started to follow.
After a few km we had a quick break beside a pasture before we kept going. We followed the highway a bit longer than Te Araroa, because Lukas believed that he had found a shortcut.

When we finally left the highway we followed some farm roads, and then found an old logging road which we used. We had to fight our way through thornes and gorse but we made it.
We joined a very dusty gravel road, and only had a quick brake before we finally reached the campsite of the evening.
We were early, but really tired. Lukas made food, pitched the tent and made the bed. Kim was crashed. Her feet hurt so bad.
After eating Kim felt a lot better. One positive thing with arriving early was that there was more time to chill and have a good time. We had some massage and a relaxing evening looking at the sunset.
