GB Day 46-47

GB Day 46-47:

Ankarede - Gäddede

Via Lill-Blåsjön, Blåsjöfallet

Then rest day

Tuesday 24 August 2021 - Wednesday 25 August 2021

On Tuesday we woke fairly early in Ankarede, and our goal of the day was to get as far as possible. We wanted to reach Gäddede to not have to sleep in the tent after getting wet (it was going to rain a lot today). We walked over a bridge, and then followed a marked trail "Lill-Blåsjön" that led us out on a bog. Instead of following this trail very long, we headed for the beach and walked on the stones on the beach for about 5 km. Here we got to see a little leveret, running across the beach! Finally we reached a house where we thought there would be a trail leading us out on a dirt road. We didn't find the trail, but managed to find a forest track leading us out on the dirt road. Here there was a small cabin. Looking like it just had been built but then left to rot, basically. We had breakfast on the porch here, where we knew Peter had pitched his tent the night before.

Here we walked on a looong dirt road, where we had a lot of communication problems. We tried having a discussion, but Kim literally misunderstood everything Lukas tried to say, while Lukas also had problems talking well (both were likely tired) and the rain had started...

Finally we called Gäddede Camping and told them that we probably will come tonight, otherwise tomorrow.

When we finally reached the big asphalt road - Vildmarksvägen, Kim was super tired and the rain had increased. Now we pulled out our headphones and started to listen to some interesting podcasts to keep our minds away from the walking in the rain. This worked okay for a few km, but Kim's rain gear had soaked through, and she was quickly getting colder. Since she was also getting more tired, she couldn't keep the pace up so well either.

When Lukas saw a little shelter at the other side of the road, he made us stop there to avoid the rain for some time and also getting to rest our legs. Lukas gave Kim some bars and took some more from his bag and made them easy to eat later while walking. He also gave Kim his winter gloves so she could have dry gloves for a little while longer and maybe keep her hands warm.

But the weather just got worse... And Kim got colder and it also didn't help that Kim's Achilles' tendons hurt too, as they have back and forth the past few days.

After many hours of roadwalking in rain and wind we reached a sign saying "Gäddede 7 km". Kim was really tired and even cried and trembled a bit because she was so cold, but still pushed on. Lukas on the other hand was fine, and not even that wet either.

After another two hours or so, we reached the camping. We got a tiny little cabin, maybe 6-7 sq metres with two metal beds and a fridge. We also got two shower tokens, which was just enough to warm us up. We then quickly went to bed, but first, Lukas needed to refurnish the cabin so we had a queen size bed!

On Wednesday we woke up earlier than we thought we would, considering how far we pushed ourselves yesterday. Lukas went to Ica to buy breakfast that we ate (but quite late). We also showered and booked the laundry for 6 PM.

Before leaving, Peter also came by to say goodbye, and he seemed really impressed by our long walk yesterday, which of course made it feel extra good.

After some coordination we went to have pizza at Gäddede's pizzeria together with Agnes and then also Andreas, both whom had arrived to the camping today.

We then walked to the camping's restaurant to meet up with Helena and Jonas, who also were in Gäddede, over something to drink. It was a nice group meeting, and fun to see two new Gröna Bandet-faces 😁 They also offered some "leftovers" from their depot box, which we couldn't resist since we had been thinking about buying more food in Gäddede anyway.

Then Andreas' girlfriend Jessica arrived to the camping together with their dog Izo! Izo hiked with Andreas for quite some time, but not the entire way, and now it was time for them to walk together again for a while. We also had house tours! Agnes pointed to her house and Andreas showed us his super big house with all everything, and then Lukas showed them our tiny little cabin while Kim hung up the washing to dry.

After this we just lay in the bed until it was time to fetch the laundry again, and then we wrote blog posts half the night. Finally, we could go to bed and sleep.
