GB Day 66

GB Day 66:

Slagusjön - Grövelsjön

And onwards for Kim to North of Storsätern

Monday 13 September 2021

And so the final day was come!

We packed our things quickly and took off towards Särsjön/Hävlingen. Here it was rocky as well, but the last part with rocks!

We stopped down by the water to share a freeze-dried meal, but Kim wasn't a fan so Lukas ended up eating most of it.

We then just crossed the bridge and started going up the other side, when we saw some familiar faces. It was Kim's parents and Uma, their dog! We walked together up the mountain, and had fika break in the sun. Then we continued towards the goal, chatting all the time.

On our way down we were joined by a reindeer. It was really odd, and he didn't even care when Uma saw him and started barking either, he just walked along with us. Apparently he use to hang around in the area.

As we got to the station and put our hands on the blue door of Grövelsjön, Lukas got a weird feeling. To be out for so long, and suddenly it's all over. Just like that.

After buying an ice cream at the station and Kim getting Agnes' (another Gröna Bandare we had met earlier) package that she'd left for her with food she didn't need, Kim started repacking her bag.

When done, Kim and Elisabeth walked down to Sjöstugan and Lukas and Patrik joined by car. There we had waffles and Kim had pancakes. Soooo nice.

Lukas and Patrik then took the car back to Storsätern where they had rented a cabin, and here they started preparing tacos while Kim and Elisabeth walked back. No cheating! Since Kim is going to continue after Grövelsjön. Aaaall the way to Smygehuk, she hopes.

We then had taco dinner with some ice cream after, Kim washed clothes and Lukas was not doing much because he was tired. Kim also tried the new Altra-shoes she'd gotten (now Altra Lone Peak 5 W), Rocky Gore-tex (unfortunately too small) and a poncho! She also found that there was a hole in the new Falke socks... Only lasting less than 100 km. Sure, she used them when wet and muddy for 4 days in a row, but still!?

We stayed up late in the evening, because Viktor, who'd walked with us Abisko-Ritsem, was going to come up and sleep outside in his tent. He arrived late, and after that, we all quickly fell asleep.
