Hello, Grövelsjön 👋
So last weekend my mum and I (Kim) drove to Grövelsjön to explore the area there. I've been to Grövelsjön once before, but then I was mostly on the Norwegian side of the border. Now with that being closed, I got to experience the Swedish side!
We arrived late Thursday evening to a magical sunset with the mountains as backdrop. We took a short walk and let the views sink in before sleeping in the car.
The next morning we started. I had packed my bag with what I would need for Gröna Bandet as practise, which proved to be a quite comfortable weight. Unfortunately that was when I was carrying food for just 4 days...
We began by climbing the ski slope 🥵 and then we moved on up to Blåkläppen, down to have lunch at Oskarsstugan and then up again on Lillvätteshågna. All of this just for me to get some geocaches 😁
The weather was great! Sun shining, barely any mosquitoes and not too wet on the ground either. That night we camped near a small lake close to Övre Fosksjön. Falling asleep wasn't that easy, the sun stayed up late and then woke us early, just to bbq us in the tent.
Saturday could be summed up pretty easily. Stones, ants and more stones. My ankles really hated this terrain, and we walked a bit shorter this day. Got another geocache and then managed to go almost all the way to Slagusjön. Basically, we put up the tent the moment the terrain got better! 😂
And on Sunday we just turned around and went back the same way, up and down the frikkin stones again. Today the weather was not as warm, it was cloudy and a drizzle most of the day. Just perfect if you ask me. Not too cold, not too warm! Lagom - as we say in Swedish. Today we went all the way to the Norwegian border to find a geocache just to find that I hadn't managed to store it offline, and there was no coverage what so ever. We searched for a while, Uma taking a good-earned rest while she could, but finally decided to give up. We then turned around and went all the way up to the top of Pråahta, then followed the of the mountain up on Jakobshöjden. By then we were both really tired, and wanted nothing more than to get back to the car.
On Monday we couldn't just turn back home right away, so we stopped for a walk without our backpacks in the jogging/ski tracks before finally turning back home, riding right through the storm that had showed up in the distance.
