NPL Day 103

Day 103: Wednesday 27 September 2023

Såvistjønnane-Hovden

This morning we didn't hurry. We didn't have a very long distance to Hovden, where we had booked an AirBnB and we would wash our clothes, shower and resupply food. By taking it easy in the morning we also waited out the worst rain for the day. Nice to have that out of the way. We also had phone connection here which meant we could catch up some more with the blog etc. When the rain stopped, we took down the tent and got going.

We still didn't miss all of the rain because we got rain showers now and then, but most of it. Today there was actually more of a path to follow which was nice. We hiked a few km until we reached a big lake, Breidvatn. There we crossed an area that looked like there had been an old shieling before. A bunch of carpenters were there, and we also said hi to a man, that seemed to be the owner. Really nice guy whom we talked with for some time. He was really impressed with our hike, and even offered to bring us over the water with his boat since he was soon going to pick up his friend on the other side. We kindly declined, since it wasn't so far around we would be on the other side by the time he was going there anyway, and it also felt a little bit like cheating.

The path was even better the last part out to the road, and soon we were there. Both of us were tired and had some pain in our feet which made it feel tough even though it wasn't. The weather was good now too.

When we finally reached Hovden we went to the store and bought food for tonight and snacks for the upcoming days. We also went to the sports store nearby where we bought a "road walking kit" for the last days that would consist of road walking. We bought two reflective vests and rubber tips for Lukas hiking poles.

We went back to the AirBnB and started to do all the laundry while also making food. It was nice to have the entire place for ourselves, and it also made washing our clothes so much easier! In the evening we also popped some popcorn. Some we popped to eat right away, and some for bringing with us tomorrow. Fun to try something different sometimes.
