NPL Day 60 & GB Day 36

Day 60: Tuesday 15 August 2023

Skorovatn-south of Skardfjellvatnet

We woke up late today. We didn't want to rush away and Kim wanted to finish sending in a job application. Lukas wanted to leave earlier than we did but we ended up leaving almost at twelve o'clock. We ate warm Billys and Grandiosa for breakfast today 😅😂

After a few km we passed Skorovas Turisthytte. There we met the man from the group of 7 that we first met in Børgefjell. We stopped and talked a little, then continued.

The steep climb up the mountain made us sweaty, but the trail was okay and we talked about everything under the sun.

After about 10 km the trail disappeared. We looked at the map and the trail was faaar away to the left... But the last cairn we had seen had been to the right of us...

We decided to follow the map, which unfortunately was a really bad decision. The path on the map didn't match with reality so we ended up in difficult terrain with no path to be seen.

In the end we decided to just walk off trail. We walked between the trail on the map and the real trail (but we didn't know it at the time). Later, we found it as we came to a lake. It showed up on the right side of us (as Lukas had thought all along), but, on the map it had always been to the left of us. From here it was easier to walk, but sometimes hard to see the cairns.

Again, the trail didn't match the real trail but this time we didn't lose the cairns! We started to look for a place to put up the tent, and after a while we did. Not very easy in this uneven terrain. We needed some stones to secure the tent stakes, but the pitch ended up pretty good anyway.

Kim made some mashed potatoes for dinner and then we had some chocolate for dessert. The rain started falling just as we were falling asleep 😴💤
