NPL Day 76
Day 76: Thursday 31 August 2023
Elgå-Ellefsplass via Jonasvollen, Sæter + drive from Elgå to Jonasvollen (because of no boats)
Today, Kim's parents would join us. Still, we were tired and it was hard to get up. But we timed it well, and when we were taking down the tent, Elisabeth and Patrik showed up.
Instead of taking the boat across, we got in the car and started the drive around the lake. We made some stops along the way to look for some geocaches, and we talked all the time. Soon we were already on the other side, at Jonasvollen Camping.
There we had some breakfast and fika. Then it was time for us to walk the 7 km to Sæter where Elisabeth and Patrik would drive and park their car. On our way to Sæter we saw two roe deer (we think) very quickly, jumping in the distance, and later we passed some pastures with some cows and some kids (baby goats) running around as they wanted. Super cute! Probably the least shy animals we've met on our entire hike 😂
Soon after we reached Sæter where we met up with my parents. Then the owner came home and let out his dogs that had barked at us from the window when we came. They were actually really cute and cozy all three of them (we think they were Jack Russells?). We talked for a while with the owner while the dogs were playing. After a while the old dog walked up to Lukas and jumped up in his lap, apparently she is very careful with new people, so that was cool.
But then it was time to start walking. After a quick stop at the small temporary hut that they rented out for DNT, where Kim wrote in their book.
The trail started out quite wet and both Lukas and Kim were sad to get wet after having dry feet the entire day before.
We hiked up through a forest, and then on the mountain for some time. This area was really cool, with lots of stones covered in white moss. Elisabeth stopped many times to take pictures of it all.
Some rain came and left and we slowly started to descend to the road. We arrived at the hut, actually the least cozy DNT hut so far. Patrik had a really bad headache and lay down on the sofa as soon as we got there. He got a paracetamol but wasn't able to get up from the sofa for hours. We ate dinner and he had to eat his food cold some hours later, when he was able to get up again.
After that, we played some cards together.
The day turned into night before we got to bed.
