NPL Day 77
Day 77: Friday 1 September 2023
Ellefsplass-Raudsjødalen via Raudsjøpiggen
We woke up and had breakfast together. Then before we left the house, we made it cleaner than it was before.
The first km was a dirt road taking us all the way up the mountain. At the end of the car road, we met a reindeer hunter. So apparently now we were in an area where there was wild reindeer. That was new for us.
As we continued the dirt road turned into more like an ATV track, then into a path. Here and there it was wet, and Kim was really happy about her new Rocky gore-tex socks keeping her dry. Lukas managed to stay dry even without his Rockys, even though we walked through many wet parts.
After about 7 km we sat down in the sun and rested, Lukas without his shirt.
The trail was really good and we walked fast, and soon we caught up to another hunter. The brother of the first hunter we had met. We walked a little further and took our second break about 7 km after the first.
We made fast progress, and in this amazing weather we decided to summit a peak near the trail - Raudsjøpiggen.
We let our bags at the base of the peak, and hiked the short but steep hike up. It was a lot easier than it looked like, and soon we were up. The view from here was amazing and we could see very far. We could see the hut down in the valley where we would be spending the night tonight.
After taking a geocache and eating top Snickers and top Twix, it was time to descend. The trail down from the mountain was really easy to hike, and it didn't take long until we reached the hut, a super cozy place. Nearby there was an old dairy and several cozy huts with grass roofs.
When we arrived at the hut, Patrik and Lukas made a fire. During the evening we had some canned food, chocolate mousse and played cards in the candle light.
