TA Day 114
TA Day 114: Friday 11 April 2025
Pataua South - Sandy Bay Freedom Campsite
When we woke up there was still strong winds and also a bit of rain. Luckily the rain stopped before we started to take it down. Today we were trying not to start too late because we knew we had a long day ahead of us with more than 40 km of road walking.
Not much interesting happened today, we just walked, walked and walked.
But in the late afternoon, just before dark, we had a long and much needed conversation. None of us have been our best selves this hike, and our relationship have felt a bit strained, and we've often been short tempered and stressed. After talking about it we felt a lot better, and we said that we really need to make the best of it this last bit even if we are tired and not too excited about hiking anymore.
We decided to rather try to take shorter days, be less stressed and be better towards each other, rather than push, push, push towards the finish line just to finish this hike sooner because we will save so little time but be very stressed and unhappy all the time, it won't be worth it.
We reached Sandy Bay and the freedom Campsite there, and pitched our tent in the little area where you were allowed to. Most of it was just sand, but we managed to find a spot that still had some vegetation on it.
Today's:
Distance: 41.12 km
Ascent: 740 m
Descent: 748 m
Tent nights: 55/114
Weather: Overcast and a bit of wind
