GB Day 32:

Via Bäverholmen, Sjnulttjie

This morning we woke to our alarms around 8 in the morning, and tried to sneak up. Lukas opened the door to take a look outside, just to find the cabin owner out there. He asked if we'd slept well, and if we were going to take the boat today. Lukas said no, and was just going to say that Karro and Robban might want to, when Robban flew up and came over to the door.

When the owner had left, we had breakfast and cleaned the place. Most of our stuff was now fairly dry, which we were extremely thankful for.

We had an okay start of our hike. The air was stifling, but after a while some rain came again.

When we reached Bäverholmen we got to have lunch under a roof which was nice, and before we left we got to go on a real toilet too!

At first it wasn't going uphill, so here the hiking was fine. Also it wasn't as muddy as it later was when it started going up.

Here, almost at the top, we met Jesper Sundstrand. He is walking Gröna Bandet - but that's not all. He is walking Via Suecia, so he started his hike in Smygehuk! He actually hiked together with Marcus Persson, but he got problem with his shin back in Klimpfjäll and had to stop, or at least pause for a while, so Jesper was now hiking alone. We talked for quite some time, mostly about the trail ahead and our experiences. Kim also asked about Via Suecia since that is something she wants to attempt too.

We talked so long that once more, Robban and Karro that had been behind us, now got ahead of us again.

But after talking to Jesper we were eager to get going, and picked up our pace faster than ever. Finally, after many km, we caught up to Karro and Robban again, and walked and talked with them for a good while.

When we reached Sjnulttjie, Karro and Robban wanted to move on while we wanted to have a look at the shelter and use the privy, which we did. On the shelter there was a sign that said that there was another shelter some 6 km more south or so, by the bridge over Vuorujuhka, so we decided to try to get there. If there was no shelter we could just pitch our tent there. It was worth trying for.

So after a few km we saw Karro and Robban again. They had decided to camp for the night. We told them about the shelter-thing and continued. There was no shelter there, but a good tent spot at least, so we pitched our tent in the twilight, made food - our home-dried pulled pork, together with mashed potatoes. Really nice! Actually one of the better foods! And then we cleaned ourselves slightly in the water and went to sleep.
