TA Day 74
TA Day 74: Sunday 2 March 2025
Feilding - Bulls (Brandon Hall Rd)
Slept in this morning, then we had breakfast and got to write on a table in Debbie and her husband's living room. Fun but felt a bit strange, but an interesting way to keep a guest book!
Then we were driven back to New World in Feilding where we continued our hike. We started with road walking again, and soon after Feilding we came to a part that was a little bit sketchy, although still not as bad as some had claimed. 5 km later it was fine again, so here we stopped to eat some really nice ciabatta pizzas that we had bought at New World. Then we didn't have to walk on the road again, but had a little nice path beside the road to walk on for some time.
A little while later, when we had come to a gravel road, a car suddenly stopped. It was a man from NZ who had hiked a few years ago and now he drove around and did trail magic whenever he passed the trail! So nice of him! We didn't know what to say, more than thank him of course. This was so unexpected for us.
When the gravel road finally ended, and we neared Bulls, we had to cross a big road with lots of traffic. It took some time before there was finally a big enough gap to run across. Scary.
Coming in to Bulls, we saw a lot of (surprise, surprise) bulls 😄
We immediately walked to Four Square to buy some dinner for this evening and also some breakfast.
Then we continued for about one more hour until we reached "Mayhem Roost". Here we would stay the night, at this amazing place provided by a trail angel. On part of their property they had built a small cabin with a bunk bed, a cozy kitchen area under a shelter where there was also a dart board. There was also a long drop and an amazing outdoor shower which we loved so much!
